xESC Carrier Module

A carrier board for the xESC Mini — adds an onboard 5 V supply, screw terminals, and protection so the ESC works stand-alone.

The xESC Mini ships as a bare module with pin headers — it expects 5 V logic power from a host board. The xESC Carrier Module is a small breakout PCB that makes it usable stand-alone, outside of a larger mainboard.

What the carrier adds

  • Onboard DC/DC converter (LV2862XDDC) — generates 5 V straight from the main battery voltage, so no separate logic supply is needed.
  • Screw terminals — for battery power input and motor phase wires.
  • Transient protection — an SMCJ33CA TVS diode guards against voltage spikes.
  • Decoupling capacitors and supporting passives.

The 5 V DC/DC and its protection diode are optional — if you drop the xESC into a larger system that already provides 5 V, you can omit those parts to save cost and space.

The xESC Mini it carries

The xESC Mini is a small, low-cost FOC controller for BLDC motors — 10 A / 40 V, 50 × 30 mm, VESC-based firmware, with UART/CAN/USB/PWM/Analog interfaces and a ROS driver.

Design & ordering

KiCad schematic and PCB, plus ready-to-order JLCPCB production files (Gerbers, BOM, placement). Solder the xESC Mini onto the pin headers to finish the board. Carrier licensed CC BY 4.0; the xESC Mini module itself is CC BY-NC-SA 4.0.
