Self-o-Matx-tech

Self-o-Mat started with a simple belief: a DSLR camera and a Raspberry Pi should be all you need to build a high-quality photobooth. Existing solutions were either expensive or produced mediocre images — so we built one that runs on inexpensive hardware and still delivers full-quality photos.

Features

  • Live preview — a fluid, real-time preview of the current shot.
  • Full-quality images — large JPEGs and RAW files processed even on a Raspberry Pi.
  • High performance — no loading times, no lag.
  • Broad camera support — works with most DSLRs and webcams; just plug yours in.
  • Live printing — connect any CUPS-compatible printer and hand out prints on the spot. Great for weddings and events.
  • Template overlays — brand every image with your own logo for commercial use.
  • Companion app — adjust camera settings live from your smartphone.

Build it yourself — or buy the kit

The software is fully open-source and free to use with your own hardware. Prefer plug-and-play? A hardware kit with the software preinstalled is available at self-o-mat.de.

Source, wiki, and build instructions are on GitHub.

A short description is enough. It's fine if the details, budget, or timeline are still open.
